The Life of Chuck

The Life of Chuck

I’ve seen “The Life of Chuck” twice in the first week of release. It is a beautifully thought provoking movie, the kind that might’ve been a strong Best Picture contender years ago – but times have apparently changed. It’s not doing very well at the box office, and from a local perspective, it’ll be reduced to two showtimes by the middle of next week.

This is the type of film that is best experienced without knowing too many spoilers, so I’m not even going to attempt to write a capsulized synopsis of the film. It is based on a short story from Stephen King’s recent anthology, “If It Bleeds”.

If you’re feeling shitty about the world we live in right now, please do yourself a favor and get out to see this film. It’s so good, and I think it’s a crime against art that NEON just dumped it into release with the absolute bare minimum promotion. The R rating is for language – a handful of F-bombs here and there.

Highly, highly recommended. One of my favorite films this year so far.
